I work for Temple University in Philadelphia, PA (clicking through will show you my building as well as a good overhead of the infamous dirt lot). The title of my position as listed in the HR database is Digital Production Developer/Web Application Developer. My business card indicates that I am Associate Director of CLA's Web and Database matters. Titles, in my opinion, matter very little. It's a well paying job and is better then working in the public sector.
Personal
Music
The Beloved Infidels: This is my most recent project. They were an established act before I arrived but I like to think I've made some contributions to the overall sound. The tracks on MySpace were done a while ago and the sound has changed somewhat since their recording. A new album will be out soon that features my work. It should be entertaining.
Phil Fizur: I write my own music. That's all you need to know.
Education
When I started at Temple I was a psych major. Then I decided I'd rather take a cushy full time job with the University then put me and/or my parents deep into debt for my undergrad. Having begun full time work in IT I decided to become a Computer Science major. Then an English major. Then education, physics, music...you get the idea. Now that I'm a little older and wiser I've made the executive decision to finish my undergraduate career as a Psych major.
I am also, for the time being, pre-med. I'll wait for you all to stop laughing. Done? Good. The more I learn about the brain the more I want to pick it apart to see how it works from every aspect. After meeting with several professors and discussing my goals I've been instructed that the best route for me is an MD. We'll see how that works out. In the interim I've taken a premed volunteer position at HUP to see how I'd fare in a hospital environment and just how in to medicine I am while at the same time researching Psy.D. programs.
Technology
I will always love technology and will attempt to incorporate it into every facet of my life. Here at home I run a Sun Enterprise 250, an IBM Aptiva E2N, a Power Mac 8600/300, and a Dell Latitude D620 (when it's not at my at my actual office). All are running one release or another of Debian but for the Latitude which runs Windows XP. I also have the new 24-inch model iMac at work. It's pretty nice but, given Temple's infrastructure, not terribly useful in my day-to-day life. I use all of these for professional projects as well as geeky nonsense just to keep my skills sharp.
